THE GRANDMOTHER (1970) dir. D. LYNCH

An evocative and visceral 30 minutes that operate primarily on subconscious levels, without dialogue, full of demented animation and nocturnal live-action elements. Effectively expands Lynch's preoccupations (the terror of the domestic, nightmarish visuals) within a mythic space. Like the best fables, frightening, timeless, smothered in sleep and ether. Portends Eraserhead.
